"Rich foreigners rule works for Britons wanting to live in Spain", Costa Blanca News, 26 | 10 | 2021 - Noticia
Real estate chiefs have highlighted how Britons can beat Brexit rules by buying a property in Spain worth more than €500,000. Legislation was introduced by the former Partido Popular (PP) government in 2013 following the economic crisis which brought the country to its knees.

For residents of the UK, the value of the state pension rises every year under the triple lock policy, which ensures an increase by the highest of three figures: Average earnings growth, inflation and 2.5 percent. ... For Britons, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand were three of the five most desired countries to retire in, but in all three of these nations, retirees would see their state pension income frozen. However, Spain and Portugal, the remaining two nations in the top five, are both in the European Union and would therefore allow British pensioners to be part of the annual uprating of the state pension.

«'Human rights deprived!' Expat disaster over homes bought in Spain before Brexit», Express, 25 | 10 | 2021 - Reportaje (Paul Withers)
The expats are reportedly leaving the hugely popular tourist destination "in droves" after more stringent immigration rules were brought in when the UK left the European Union on December 31, 2020. ... Britons now looking to move to Spain and other countries in the European Union are faced with meeting certain conditions to gain resident status, including financial means and health cover. ... recent statistics revealed that 2,400 British residency applications were rejected this year. ... When asked about expats being forced to sell their homes in Spain, Leon Fernando del Canto, founder of London-based tax set Del Canto Chambers, told Express.co.uk: "This is a serious issue for those not wanting to become tax residents in Spain and who bought their properties before Brexit. There is, from my point of view, a serious human rights infringement on those cases, as no one must be deprived from their rights to enjoy their property freely".

"Is it true Britons are leaving Spain ‘in droves’ as UK tabloids claim?", The Local, 22 | 10 | 2021 - Reportaje (Conor Patrick Faulkner)
If you've scanned some of the UK’s tabloid newspapers in recent weeks you would be forgiven for thinking that there’s a mass exodus of Britons from Spain. ... Has Brexit changed people’s lives to such an extent that they’re packing up and leaving? Are Brits selling up and returning to the UK? ... It seems if anything Covid-19 has had more of an effect on property purchases in Spain than Brexit. ... where did these tabloid headlines come from? ... for some on the Costa del Sol the new Brexit regulations are having the opposite effect: “Some British are looking to buy because if they own a property they can get a visa,” ... Head of Bremain in Spain and MBE Sue Wilson told The Local... “It’s true that there are examples of British second-home owners selling up now they can no longer spend as much of the winter as they would like in the EU, thanks to the 90-day rule. But these people were never Spanish residents, even though, in many cases, they should have been. In truth, whether you support the new post-Brexit arrangements or not, they have forced us all to evaluate where we call home...”

...Britons will "lose their right to drive" at the end of October without a Spanish licence, a British councillor on the Costa del Sol has warned in an interview with Express.co.uk.

"Simplifying registration for international residents", Costa Blanca News, 13 | 10 | 2021 - Noticia
San Fulgencio town hall has launched a campaign to provide international residents with information about the municipal register (padrón) and applying for residency in Spain. According to councillor for international relation, Darren Parmenter, the objective is to inform and remind people what the ‘padrón’ is and how useful it is, and at the same time to dispel many of the myths which surround it and sometimes can make some people reluctant to register.
