28 Julio 2011 “Big problems need big solutions” Costa Almería News | Noticia A draft of the Junta’s decree to “regularise” houses in Andalucía was greeted with little enthusiasm at an informal meeting held in Macael last week. The draft decree, which aims to regularise houses more than 300,000 throughout Andalucía, is currently being circulated by the Junta in order to invite amendments. However, this process has not included expat groups or councils in the areas especially affected by the problem, such as the Almanzora Valley. With this is mind, the Macael meeting last week saw representatives of promoters, citizens, ecologists, architects, lawyers, local authority members, notaries and planners as well as mayors from seven different municipalities get together to analyse the decree and discuss its implications. Cantoria’s mayor, Pedro Llamas, expressed his dissatisfaction in the Spanish press. He said: “The decree makes no allowances for different situations nor does it reflect the realities of the problem in the Almanzora valley.”
