19 Enero 2012 Ten towns in the Marina Alta have more than 50% foreign residents Costa Blanca News | Noticia Figures released this week by the national statistics institute (INE) show that 10 out of the 19 towns in Valencia Region where foreign residents make up more than 50 per cent of the population are in the Marina Alta. INE says that foreign residents continue to have a massive presence in this area and they represent 44.47% of the total population. In 2011, 432 new foreign residents were registered as moving to the area. This figure is way below that of the boom years when the possibility of finding work and a better way of life was a major attraction in the zone but that apart retirees from within the EU still think the area has a lot to offer. Benitachell is ranked as the fourth town in the Valencia Region that has more foreign than native residents.
