27 Enero 2011 Authorities poised to legalise up to 270 homes Costa Almería News | Noticia Arboleas council has announced it is a step closer to legalising up to 270 homes in the municipality following a favourable report by the regional government, it has emerged. The homes, most of which are owned by expats, are located in the neighbourhoods of Los Torres II, Los Menchones, El Rincón and in the main village nucleus. Fifty others are in the districts of Limaria, El Prado and Los Torres, while a dozen are in Los Higuerales, Los Llanos, Los Carrascos, Los Requenas, Los Colorados, Gilabertes and Los Menchones II. Most of the homes lack a certificate of first habitation – the all-important document to determine a property’s legal status – but mayor Angel García claimed the procedure to legalise the homes is being made significantly easier because the properties in Arboleas are grouped together and not dispersed in isolated clusters. The news comes the same week a judge rejected an appeal by the Junta de Andalucía to deprive illegal homes in Albox of basic utilities.
